HR Generalist
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for all levels of manufacturing positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local technical schools, recruitment agencies, and community organizations to build a talent pipeline.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand job requirements and develop job postings that attract high-quality candidates.
- Assist with salary benchmarking and analysis to ensure competitive compensation for new positions.
- Conduct candidate interviews and manage the selection process, including administering assessments and reference/background checks.
- Oversee the onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
- Assist in employee relations by handling inquiries, concerns, and resolving issues in a fair and consistent manner.
- Support performance management initiatives, including coaching, feedback, and employee evaluations.
- Administer employee benefit programs, answer employee questions, and resolve any issues.
- Maintain accurate HR records in compliance with state and federal laws, including new hire documentation, terminations, and employee changes.
- Partner with supervisors and managers to assess employee training and development needs and assist with implementation.
- Facilitate offboarding processes, including exit interviews, to gain insights for improving employee retention.
- Ensure proper termination procedures are followed, including final pay, benefits continuation, and proper documentation.
- Assist with internal communication strategies to ensure employees are well-informed about HR policies, benefits, and company initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Contribute to updating,implementing, and enforcing HR policies and procedures to maintain a safe and productive workplace.
- Assist with the administration of leave programs, such as FMLA and workers’ compensation.
- Collaborate with department leaders to anticipate and plan for future workforce needs.
- Assist in developing and executing employee engagement programs that aim to improve retention and productivity.
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Track and report recruitment metrics (e.g., time-to-fill, retention rates) and use data to drive improvement in recruiting efforts.
- Assist in preparing reports on HR activities and workforce trends to present to leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a recruitment-focused HR role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of recruiting strategies, with hands-on experience in sourcing, interviewing, and hiring for technical and hourly positions.
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
- Knowledge of labor market trends and recruiting tools for skilled trades.
