Pressing Area Operator
e-VAC Magnetics LLC, a member of VAC Group, is currently seeking a Pressing Area Operator. The position will be located on-site in our manufacturing facility in Sumter, South Carolina. This facility is currently being constructed and will house the production of permanent magnets for electric vehicles and defense applications. The Pressing Area Operator will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up machines.
- Set up conventional or CNC-controlled machines, machine groups and systems.
- Adjust measuring devices and conduct tool changes.
- Set tools.
- Set cutting values or working pressures and tools according to tables, drawings or setting plans.
- Optimize machining processes (e.g., by changing the tool sequences, program steps, work piece clamping).
- Produce a test part, correct the settings as needed for acceptance.
- Monitor machine processes in continuous operation.
- Check the condition and dimensional accuracy and adjust if necessary.
- Report error codes in the data processing system. Analyze key errors, initiate corrective measures, and track further quality development.
- Control and monitor organizational processes and ensure compliance with specified values.
- Eliminate malfunctions (e.g., replace and adjust equipment) or arrange for rectification. Pass on fault descriptions to maintenance. Suggest measures for process optimization.
- Conducting maintenance and repair work, monitoring maintenance intervals, carrying out specified repair work. Conduct maintenance and cleaning work as required. Record maintenance times and suggest alternative measures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 plus years of experience in a similar production role in a manufacturing or repair environment operating pressing/stamping operations.
- Technical education, certification or training preferred.
- Verbal Communication – Uses clear and effective verbal communication skills to express ideas and request actions.
- Works with guidance to plan, organize, and prioritize activities to efficiently meet business objectives.
- Health and Safety - Applies elementary concepts to manage and apply safe systems of work.
- Ability to travel to German Headquarters for initial training.
- Authorization to work in the US.
