Production Area Supervisor

e-VAC Magnetics LLC, a member of VAC Group, is currently seeking a Production Area Supervisor.  The position will be located on-site in our manufacturing facility in Sumter, South Carolina. This facility is currently being constructed and will house the production of permanent magnets for electric vehicles and defense applications. The Production Supervisor manages resources and personnel to meet production schedules, productivity targets, quality targets and safety objectives within a team environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for an efficient, team-driven, quality-focused operation that promotes continuous improvement in cost, quality, delivery, safety, and technology.
  • Responsible to provide a safe work environment for all employees through organization, cleanliness and open communication that assure compliance with State and Federal regulations regarding safety.
  • Lead the team in accomplishing objectives and goals set.
  • Ensuring the work program and delivery dates, helping to design and monitor work processes.
  • Decide on the use of operating and production resources and ensure their maintenance and operational readiness; initiate and carry out measures to avoid and eliminate operational disruptions; organize and monitor the start-up and shutdown of systems.
  • Monitor the efficient use of raw materials, auxiliary materials and operating materials and ensure timely scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with the production program (dates, quantities, costs, and quality).
  • Design and promote the continuous improvement process (CIP)
  • Organize and optimize processes.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of new production processes.
  • Monitor cost.
  • Evaluate key performance indicators (KPI)
  • Prepare and conduct inventory.
  • Approval of vacation and shift planning.
  • Conduct operational tours and inspection tours.
  • Optimization of production processes through analysis, planning and implementation (PDCA)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree preferred, or combination of experience/Associate degree in business or technical field.
  • 1-2 years previous supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, including governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret graphs.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Prior experience utilizing AS400 Database software and ability to create spreadsheets preferred.
  • Ability to travel to German Headquarters for initial training.
  • Authorization to work in the US.
