Safety Coordinator
Key Responsibilities
Enforce, support and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Support department Leads in complying with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure easy access for all employees.
Organize and conduct safety training sessions for new and existing employees on topics such as hazard recognition, equipment operation, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), emergency response, and ergonomics.
Coordinate regular safety drills and ensure employees are well-prepared for emergencies.
Respond quickly and effectively to emergency calls, providing initial first aid care at the scene of accidents, medical emergencies, or disasters on site.
Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and safety concerns to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain detailed records of incidents and follow up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of equipment, machinery, and work areas to identify and address potential hazards.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is regularly serviced and maintained for optimal safety performance.
Ensure all employees adhere to company safety policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
Prepare and maintain safety records, reports, and documentation for internal audits and regulatory inspections.
Communicate with management about safety program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend effective controls to minimize risks.
Foster a culture of safety by promoting safety awareness, encouraging employee participation in safety initiatives, and recognizing safety achievements.
Serve as a point of contact for employees to voice safety concerns and provide guidance on resolving issues.
Qualifications
Associates Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred but not required.
Experience:
1+ years of experience in a safety role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience with OSHA regulations, safety audits, and incident investigations.
Skills and Abilities:
Respond to and Knowledge of federal and state safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
Excellent communication and training skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software.
Ability to conduct thorough safety inspections and write clear, detailed reports.
Ability to coach and motivate personnel at all levels to follow safety procedures and regulations.
Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to safety management.
Champion eVAC Magnetics’ “Safety as a Value” environment.
Certifications:
OSHA 30-hour certification or higher preferred.
First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain and maintain.
EMT or First Responder certification is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to loud noise, heat, machinery, and hazardous materials.
Ability to climb industrial stairs and ladders.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
